PTDF Scholarships in Nigeria & Overseas (UK & France) for Undergraduate, Masters & PhD


The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarships scheme is open for application for Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students to study in Nigeria and Overseas.

To be taken at (Universities): Overseas and Nigerian higher institutions

Eligible Fields of Study: Mainly engineering, technology and engineering management courses

About Scholarship: The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 for the purpose of developing and promoting petroleum technology and for creating the manpower needs of the oil and gas industry through research and training of Nigerians.

Its mission therefore is to train Nigerians to qualify as graduates, professionals, technicians and craftsmen in the field of engineering, geology, science and management in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria or abroad.

To ensure a steadfast implementation of this mandate, PTDF scholarships is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for Overseas and in-Country MSc and PhD Scholarships. Awards will be granted for studies in the 2016/2017 academic session in the United Kingdom Germany, Australia, USA and France (Grenoble INP) as well as PTDF upgraded Universities in Nigeria. However, the Undergraduate level will be awarded for studies in Nigeria only on subject areas listed below.

Type: Undergraduate, Masters and PhD scholarships

Selection Criteria and Eligibility: Students interested in the PTDF scholarships must fulfill the following:

MSc (OSS And LSS).




  1. A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience
  2. National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate.
  3. Applicants must be computer literate.
  4. Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO.
  5. Applicants must not be above 30 years of age.

Applicants for OSS must be in possession of the following:



  1. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (USA).
  2. G.R.E (Graduate Record Examination) (USA).
  3. GMAT – for Management related courses (USA).
  4. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (UK).

PhD (OSS And LSS)


  1. A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;
  2. National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
  3. Applicants must be computer literate;
  4. Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; (At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and
  5. Employment in the academics in reputable Nigerian Institution, teaching oil and gas related disciplines;
  6. A minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a minimum of merit as a second degree certificate in an oil and gas related discipline;
  7.  Submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology relevance to the industry and mode of data collection;
  8.  Possess a valid admission letter; and
  9.   Must not be over 40 years of age

Duration of Scholarship: for the duration of the degree programme.

How to Apply: Application forms can be accessed online here using an ATM (Interswitch, Master & Visa) card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated main branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc in all the 36 States and FCT, upon payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online is clearly stated on the backside of the cards.

Applicants may please note that only those who meet the requirements below shall be shortlisted and invited for a Computer Based Aptitude Test, in the case of MSc applicants, while oral interview will be conducted for PhD applicants (full time and Split-site) on dates to be announced later. Following the aptitude tests and interview, successful candidates will be selected and awarded the PTDF Scholarship.

Applicants are advised to scan the following documents and attach to their online application forms:


  1. First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result;
  2. NYSC discharge certificate;
  3. WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO Results;
  4. 2 Recent Passport Photographs;
  5. Local Government Identification Letter;
  6. Masters’ Degree Certificate (PhD Applicants only); and
  7. Admission Letter (PhD Applicants).


PLEASE NOTE THAT THE POSSESSION OF A VALID UNIVERSITY ADMISSION LETTER IS COMPULSORY FOR LSS (UNDERGRADUATES, MSC & PHD) APPLICANTS TO THE PTDF SCHOLARSHIPS.

Science & Engineering Merit Extension Undergraduate Scholarships at Curtin University in Australia, 2017



The Curtin University is offering Science & Engineering Merit Extension Scholarships for international students. Scholarships are available to pursue undergraduate degree programme within the Faculty of Science & Engineering available to International Students.

The Science and Engineering International Merit Extension Scholarship is designed to award high achieving students, who commenced the first year of their program through the 2015 Curtin Innovative Merit Scholarship or the 2016 Curtin Innovative Merit Scholarship 25% of their annual tuition fee providing they achieve and maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of 75 percent or above.

Curtin University acknowledges the importance of being one of Australia’s most multicultural university campuses and this scholarship aims to grow the trust and confidence in Curtin University as a place for students to further their studies, careers and life experiences.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue undergraduate degree programme.

Study Subject: All Undergraduate courses within the Faculty of Science & Engineering available to International Students.

Scholarship Award: The Science & Engineering Merit Extension Scholarship will provide 25% of annual tuition fee for full-fee paying international students who are eligible for the scholarship.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for a Science and Engineering International Merit Scholarship:

Must be citizens of Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.


  • Must have met Curtin University and course academic and English language entry requirements
  • Must be international, full fee-paying students, enrolled in a program of study through the 2015 or  2016 Curtin Innovative Merit Scholarships
  • Must have commenced a full undergraduate degree in Semester 1 or 2, 2015 or Semester 1 or 2, 2016 at Curtin University, Western Australia
  • Cannot be studying at Curtin via a sponsoring body

  • Must not have received any credits for recognised learning (CRL)
  • Students must achieve and maintain an ongoing course weighted average of 75% or above.

      How to Apply: Students must be enrolled in the Faculty of Science & Engineering and have commenced their program under the 2015 Curtin Innovative Merit Scholarship or 2016 Curtin Innovative Merit Scholarship
      • Students will automatically be assessed for eligibility by the Faculty of Science & Engineering and will be advised accordingly of their success or otherwise. Students may be required to adhere to terms and conditions surrounding their scholarship.
      • Students cannot apply for this scholarship if they are a recipient of, or have applied for any other Curtin University scholarship

      UNICAL 2016/2017 Admission List Released



      We are pleased to inform all aspirants of the University of Calabar, Calabar (UNICAL) that the Admission List for 2016/2017 academic session has been released.

      All aspirants are advised to check their admission status on the notice board of the school as the list has not been uploaded online at the time of this publication.

      Meanwhile payment for acceptance fee and registration for school hostel is currently ongoing;


      • To pay your acceptance, kindly visit Unical Micro Finance Bank (UMFB) with the sum of N15,000.00 and make your payment, for avoidance of fraud request for the real and authentic school account number for this purpose from the bank and make your payment and make sure to keep the customer teller the bank will issue to you save for evidence of payment and clearance’s purposes, don’t worry when you get to UMFB you’d see your colleagues there for the same purpose (Acceptance Fee) you guys can relate.
      • After payment and you wish to apply for school hostel, kindly visit Students’ Affairs Division with your acceptance fee teller and Jamb admission letter and apply, they’d request for the above credentials and Jamb registration number, department and the rest. Take note that registration for hostel accommodation is free for now and when the list of those given comes out then you’d be required to pay the sum of N10,000.00 only and take note that the earlier you apply the greater chance of being given as school hostel allocation is on the bases of First Come, First Serve.



      The names of those given (School Hostel) will be pasted on the School Notice Board.


      • There is no ongoing registration in school now and clearance has not yet started only the payment of acceptance fee and registration for hostel accommodation are ongoing for now.



      • Meanwhile there will be senate meeting on Tuesday next week (13/12/2016). The meeting would be based on resumption date, school fees and some academic related issues and after that scheduled senate meeting, the resumption date would be communicated to the public via the school official undergraduate portal www.myunical.edu.ng

      JAMB 2017 CBT Centre Accreditation Deadline Announced



      The Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede has announced that interested Computer Based Test centres (old and prospective) are invited to apply online through www.jamb.org.ng  for accreditation.

      He noted that registration closes 12.00pm on Monday December 12th 2016, he also announced that JAMB will hold a meeting with the CBT centres on Tuesday 13th December 2016.

      Oloyede advised the general public to disregard all websites and social media pages posing as JAMB affiliates/agents stressing that JAMB has not commenced sales of 2017 UTME application and has not appointed and will not appoint any agent/or cyber café as its agent.

      JAMB therefore advised all candidates to always visit its website on www.jamb.org.ng for registration and other necessary information.
