All Federal Universities in Nigeria To Pay the Same Tuition Fees

All Federal Universities in Nigeria To Pay the Same Tuition Fees

Prof. Adamu Adamu, the current Minister of Education has said the Federal Government of Nigeria will coordinate tuition in all Federal Universities to stop arbitrary charge of fees by some university authorities.

The Minister of Education made this information known while fielding questions on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja on Tuesday, 10th May 2016.

Adamu said, “Since the protests started, we have summoned the authorities of the federal universities and sat down with them and we are going to match up everything.

“Because, I think it is Forty-five thousand, (N45,000.00) that is the maximum that should be charged. I know in some places, there has been other arrangement.

“But the ministry would harmonise everything and I believe there will be no more protests over fees.”

The Universities of Lagos, University of Ibadan and University of Port Harcourt were recently shut down following students’ protests over increase in fees, lack of water and power supply on the campuses.

Adamu said that the Federal Government was discussing with management of the affected universities, adding that efforts were also ongoing to introduce harmonised fees for all federal universities in Nigeria.

Civil Engineering Softwares you should Know

Here the lists of Some Important Civil Engineering  Softwares :
  1. AutoCad
  2. Microsoft Office ( Excel, Power Point, Word )
  3. Revit
  4. STAAD Pro
  5. SAP 2000
  6. ETABS
  7. Google Sketchups
  8. 3d Home Architect
  9. 3d Max
  10. Bently Road Network

If you studying this course, try as much as possible to learn some of these softwares. Most students start with AutoCad, you can start with it for now. Microsoft Office ( Excel, Power Point, Word ) is also a very crucial software.

AutoCAD is a dying program…Autodesk has already stated that they will no longer be updating AutoCAD and will only focus on Revit.
Structural analysis software is heading into the FEM realm where SCIA Engineer currently lies. RAM Structural is very outdated and programs like Staad | Staad and RISA are headed to major analysis changes. SCIA is not commonly used in the United States yet, but is used in Europe frequently. The only issue with SCIA is that it has quite a bit of bugs as a great deal of the software is newly created.

The softwares that you should learn basically depends upon the sub field of Civil Engineering you are working in. But there are some softwares that every civil engineer should know to work on like AUTOCAD and MS Excel( don’t underestimate it)
Apart from that the softwares which may be useful are
Structural Analysis and Design: STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAP 2000 etc.
Numerical Analysis and mathematical operations: MATLAB, Mathematica, PTC Mathcad etc.
Simulations and Finite Element Analysis : ANSYSABAQUS etc.
Project Management: Primavera, MS Project
Geoinformatics : Arc GIS, GeoMedia Professional
AUTOCAD Civil 3D(different from AUTOCAD) is another very useful software.
